21st Annual Chicago Lakefront 50K

Location

 Southside Location. The Start/Finish Area is located at Jackson Park, 6300 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60649, on the West side of Lake Shore Dr.

Start

 50K:  8:00 AM (8-hour time limit)
Early Start Option Early starts are available to any runner who submits a request by Wednesday, three days prior to race day, but early starters may not qualify for podium awards (overall or age group).

If you would like to start early, please contact Jeff Fleitz at ChicagoLakefrontRD@gmail.com to let us know of your intentions. We are obliged to keep track of the number of runners that will be at the start lines to help with social distancing.

Please remember that early starters or those that finish after the race time limit will be recognized as finishers in the results but may not qualify for overall nor age group awards.

Course

 With respect to the Coronavirus/Covid-19 pandemic this version will be run on a modified racecourse, and mandatory precautions will be enforced.
  • This racecourse consists of five * 10-kilometer out-and-back loops.
  • Traversing Chicago's scenic Lakefront Trail paved path.
  • Mostly asphalt with some concrete sections.
  • One of the flattest 50k courses in North America.
All in attendance (runners, volunteers, crew, spectators) are required to wear facial coverings/masks (while not running), and observe 6-feet social distancing practices as prescribed by the guidelines of Restore Illinois Phase 4. Runners are subject to a no-touch forehead temperature screening at check in. Facial coverings/masks are especially important around the aid stations, drop bag area, and when in the Grove 19A and 19B areas - basically whenever you are not on the lakefront path course. You will need to bring your own facial covering/mask. We will have hand sanitizer, wipes, etc. available at the aid stations.
Recognition for Individual and Course Record Performances If you are planning to set a record at this Event that you want to be recognized by USATF, you must contact us as early as possible before registering for the Event to inform us of your intentions, and to discuss the USATF's requirements for recognition of your achievement.

Aid Stations
  • Details pending and may change under circumstances of the Coronavirus/Covid-19 pandemic.
  • The start/finish turnaround location will be the only manned aid station and will be stocked with water, Tailwind, Coke, Mountain Dew, and a variety of food items.
  • There will be a drop bag area at the start/finish location for runners to access their own hydration, nutrition, and clothing needs.
  • Runners are strongly encouraged to carry their own bottles or hydration vest in order to complete each out and back loop self-sustained.
  • Details for how the aid stations will be set up to ensure safe and healthy measures are maintained will be emailed to participants closer to the race date.
